And then... nothing happened.
No rain. No clouds. Eight people, locked inside a boat. On dry land.
For years, Noah had warned them. They watched him build it.
For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark.
Day one. Day two. Day five.
Outside, the music never stopped.
On the seventh day...
...all the fountains of the great deep burst forth, and the floodgates of the heavens were opened.
And they were oblivious until the flood came and swept them all away.
Then the floor beneath them moved.
And the waters rose and lifted the ark high above the earth.
The fields. The roads. The hills.
Then the mountains.
For a hundred and fifty days, there was only water.
And God said nothing.
But God remembered Noah.
A wind came. The water began to fall. And the ark came to rest on the mountains of Ararat.
He opened the window and let a dove go.
But the dove found no place to rest her foot, and she returned to him in the ark.
Seven more days.
And behold, the dove returned to him in the evening with a freshly plucked olive leaf in her beak.
Then, at last, God spoke.
Come out of the ark.
Never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all life.
He remembered Noah in his flood. He has not forgotten you in yours.
